In collaboration with BLDD Architects, Paragon provided Interior Design services for the new Center for Student Life on the Augustana Campus.
For this project following LEED principles, the Center for Student Services is a part of the Tredway library, with added space for student services, meeting spaces, class room and study spaces and a large central campus dining hall/food court, as well as offices for faculty and the office for student life. This project reflects a very new and original idea in combining many of the functions typically provided to a college student, but generally in separate buildings. The concept in this case, is to bring the students and faculty together in more of a college “community “setting.
Working with a food service consultant, we designed “Marchés’” which provide freshly prepared menus items based on specific themes: Bella Luna (Italian), Global Fusion (Ethnic), Green Creations (Salad Bar), etc. Each marche’ has its own identity and materials appropriate to the concept.
All furniture, fabrics, carpeting, paints and wall coverings were chosen with timelessness, durability, stain resistance, and environmental consciousness in mind. We are proud to have had the opportunity to design this project to echo the tradition of the college’s historic past while revitalizing its future as a multipurpose academic facility.
