Overview

The goal of this project was to create a welcoming atmosphere for this senior living community. Because senior living communities are intended to become the resident’s new home, the objective of this project was to create an environment which would allow the residents to remain in touch with their normal, everyday lives in order to benefit them in their transition into the community from their previous home.

Since we recognize and also understand the importance of forming an attachment to your home, we selected muted, yet warm tones throughout the facility to create serene and comfortable spaces that the residents would enjoy. The main entrance instantaneously delivers a sense of approachability and invites those present to create and maintain social connections.  The patterned carpet tiling was selected to add texture as well as color within the dining area, entrance way, and throughout the hallways.

Many communal gathering areas were also created with a varied combination of chairs, sofas, and end tables within each space to stimulate different atmosphere feels that would inspire group get-togethers throughout the community. With recessed lighting catering to visual interest, and an open floor plan, the overall ambiance and structure of the community effortlessly inspires its residents to remain socially active in their new home.
